From the East
Brethren,
The Child Identification Program (CHIP) is a new program the Grand Lodge began this year.
CHIP is a system using the latest technology to provide parents with the latest tools to protect their children. The system consists of a notebook computer,
infrared fingerprinting, a camera and height chart. We are currently
contemplating purchasing a unit for aiding our community in protecting our
children. We need your help in two areas: first, to decide whether we want to
purchase the system – will it be worth the expense (we are looking at about
$4,000 to buy the system and obtain the first couple hundred kits; and second,
should we buy the system, we will need members and the spouses to help us
operate the system at various public events throughout the year.
We rejoice in welcoming Bro. Benjamin Thomas West into our great fraternity. Bro. West
received his Entered Apprentice degree during March.
One final note. Mt. Hermon Lodge #179 is offering a scholarship to a worthy student or
students. The only qualification is that applicants have a familial
relationship to a member of a Masonic body or are themselves involved with the
Masonic family. If interested, please see me for an application.
The Lodge continues to welcome new members, but we would like to see all our members
participate in lodge activities. So join us. We look forward to seeing you in Lodge.
Fraternally,
Ray Denmark
